Southwold

First Thursday trip was to Southwold on the Suffolk coast. Got to say it is a beautiful town, beautiful beaches that go on for miles, beautiful Beach Huts that line the promanade and extremely family friendly.

Car parking is problematic, but only because the resort is so popular. There is a large car park on the sea-front by the pier, which only costs £1.20 an hour. The problem is, on a nice day, it will be full before mid-day.

We stayed in and around the beach area, didn’t really investigate the town. The Pier is well worth a walk round. Especailly interesting is the Water Clock, which executes a number tricks on the hour and half-hour.

And, not that it detracts or spoils the beauty of the resort, but looking south you can see the Dome of Sizewell B Nuclear Reactor.
